The flower images are stand ins for the memory of my father, Oscar’s, death. The last portrait I made of him was of his ashes transforming the color of the ground and weeds on the land he loved. Each image was created at the 360 acre farm where his ashes were spread, as a recurrent revisitation of my last moment spent with his remains. Color shifts are created on the surface of the 4x5 in negative, through analog processes, in an attempt to recreate the otherworldly visual sensation of altering the color of the ground with the human body.
